Forest Gardens:

• Are modelled on the layers of a natural young woodland edge to create

permanent edible landscapes that provide a diversity of food, medicinal plants

and other yields.

• Nurture biodiversity by creating a haven for wildlife.

• Work with nature to build climate resilient gardens which, once established,

are low maintenance, providing a wealth of fresh produce and care for precious

natural resources such as soil and water.

The Box collection contains plants which we know create mutually beneficial

relationships:

• a carefully selected fruit or nut tree

• fruit bushes

• perennial vegetables

• herbs

• edible flowers

• self-seeding annuals

Anyone can grow these for a stable and abundant future.

Boxes can be pre-ordered for Christmas and will be available for collection from

February 2020 along with prep, planting, maintenance and harvesting guides.

You will receive a voucher and scheme information to be able to present as a gift.

Choose from a full box to suit approximately a 9 square meter space (£125) or a

‘retro-fit’ box that can be planted around existing fruit trees (£95). Ask at the till

for more information.

Going Birch Crazy Again!

  • Park Lane, Lewes, BN8 6, United Kingdom (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Join us for a day of celebrating the wonderful world of the birch tree right here in Vert Woods.

From birch tree tapping (for wine and other drinks), making fires in all weather and producing great firewood, whittling spoons, producing furniture and herbs, as well as examining the folklore and cycle of birch trees.

This is very hands on. From cutting your own birch tree sapling (as part of our clearing work), we have Tom Daniell of Old Tree Brewery leading us in some seasonal birch tapping and then tasting what you can make, Christine Meadows filling you full of amazing facts about what birch trees can do, and Stewart Boyle showing how that sapling can offer fire in pouring rain and great firewood in less than 4 months if you know what you are doing.
